The Le Gip Archive preserves the creative production, personal clothing and ephemera of Le Gip, an African American fashion designer, dancer and voodoo drummer active in New York City from 1948-1985.

Can you help us find this person?

They appear on the covers of percussion albums distributed by Request Records (New Rochelle, NY) in the 1970s.

The Le Gip Archive invites the public to contribute to the reconstruction of Le Gip’s story.

We seek submissions of personal recollections, photographs, original garments, ephemera or other information that may lead to a greater understanding of Le Gip’s life, work and times.

Share your personal photographs, anecdotes, ephemera and garments that document and celebrate Le Gip's contributions to fashion, art, design, and performance and help to write his story!

Is there a Le Gip creation in your closet? Can you identify any of his models or the photographers who worked with him?
